Description

An iconic boulevard in Berlin

Unter den Linden is a great boulevard located in the central Mitte district of Berlin. It's a very picturesque area that's named for the trees that line the mall's pedestrian walkway. This area was developed by Elector John George in the 16th Century and has remained a popular area ever since.

The original trees that Unter den Linden was named for, the linden trees, were mostly destroyed during WWII, but were replanted in the 1950's. Major buildings that remain include the Kronprinzenpalais (the former palace of the Hohenzollern crown princess), and St. Hedwig's Cathedral on Bebelplatz, and many other historical venues.
