Site of an important Soviet War Memorial
Treptower Park is a protected garden monument of great importance, planned as a public park and highly appreciated by the locals for its landscape, and the Soviet War Memorial, which commemorates 50,000 Soviet soldiers who fell in the Battle in Berlin.
In the past, Treptower Park was also known for its amusement park, Spreepark, which closed down in 2001. The park is today abandoned. although the City of Berlin bought it in March 2014, but did not announce any development plans to date.
