Description

The Palace of Tears, once a glass-and-steel border-crossing pavilion during the Cold War, was a place filled with sadness as East Berliners had to say goodbye to family and friends visiting from West Germany. This exhibit, featuring original objects such as the cramped passport control booths and a border auto-firing system, photographs, and historical footage, recounts the painful effects of the division on the lives of Germans from either side of the border.
