Description
Birthplace of yachting in Germany
Stralau is a scenic part of Friedrichshain, on a peninsula between Spree and the Rummelsburg Lake. It's a highly developed area, with many residential buildings, yet preserving somehow a bit of the past charm of the Stralau village, that gave its name to the area.
Stralau is not highly touristic, giving you a good glimpse of authentic life in Berlin. The Stralauer village cemetery, one of the local landmarks, is scenic and picturesque, a must if you are in the area. Other landmarks include Dorfkirche Stralau and the marina. If you are in Berlin at the end of August, don't miss the local festival: Stralauer Fischzug.
