Description

The Ministry of State Security (MfS), commonly known as the Stasi, was the secret police of East Germany that put millions of its citizens under surveillance in order to oppress internal opposition. Explore the original headquarters of the MfS and discover the structure, methods and impact of this oppressive force. See cleverly constructed low-tech surveillance devices such as watering cans, rocks and neckties, a prisoner transport van with its small, windowless cells and the office of Stasi chief Erich Mielke. English descriptions accompany the panels of this unique exhibit.
