Description

Berlin's second Jewish cemetery, opened in 1827, is a tranquil, beautiful place. Mossy tombstones and ivy-covered graves provide a feeling of solitude, while the dappled light of old chestnut and linden trees artfully illuminates the grounds. Many prominent figures, such as artist Max Liebermann and composer Giacomo Meyerbeer, are interred here. To honor their legacy, the oldest and finest tombs have been moved to the Lapidarium, located at the cemetery's main entrance.
