Description

An unusual private art museum displaying collections of art and antiques

The Berggruen Collection (Sammlung Berggruen) was established by dealer Heinze Berggreun who fled from the Nazis in 1936. In 1996, he returned to his homeland and after already having opened up successful shops in Paris and California, decided to take his collection to Berlin.

The Berggruen Collection (Sammlung Berggruen)is located in a building that was designed by August Stuler in 1859. It was originally an army barracks, but now contains collections by famous artists such as Picasso, Klee, and Van Gogh. The Picasso collection is fairly extensive and covers the progress of his work from teenage years and beyond.
